‘Yes, There Is Interest’ Agent Reveals Celtic Target Is Being Watched But Claims He’ll Go To A ‘Big League’

The agent of Legia Warsaw left-back Michal Karbownik has confirmed there are a number of high profile clubs keeping tabs on the Polish Under 19 international.

It was revealed at the weekend that Celtic have scouted the 19-year-old on several occasions but Mariusz Piekarski has poured cold water on claims that the defender would move to Scotland:

“Celtic? I don’t really think that is an option for Michal. Yes, there is interest there, but he also has many, many big clubs looking at him too. I don’t want to talk about interest from Barcelona because there is nothing concrete, but there have been from other clubs.”

“There are some top teams who have watched him. We have had big clubs telling us that they would guarantee he would play around 70 per cent of games in his first season and then be first choice after that.”

“Because football is frozen at the moment, so are transfers. But once we get back up playing again, his future will be sorted out and he will get a good move. The only certainty is that he won’t go east to Russia. He will go to a big club in a big league.”

Karbownik is reportedly being eyed by a whole host of teams including Tottenham, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Real Betis, Sevilla, Dynamo Moscow, PSV Eindhoven and Napoli so the Hoops are certainly outsiders if they want to land the fullback.

Whether Piekarski is just sounding off in order to drum up interest in his player, we shall have to wait and see, but it does appear that a move to Celtic Park is very unlikely at this stage.

Hoops boss Neil Lennon does already have two left-backs at his disposal, in Boli Bolingoli and Greg Taylor, but it seems he is looking for an upgrade on the pair.
